PRESS: Kudrin calls view of large-scale corruption in power justified
MOSCOW, Aug 30 (PRIME) -- Russian citizens’ opinion about large-scale corruption in power is justified, the Audit Chamber’s head Alexei Kudrin said in an interview with Kommersant business daily released on Thursday.
“People are sure that a theft of state finances is widespread. This opinion is unfortunately justified,” he said.
“If the society believes that state resources are squandered and stolen, this means that this is incomplete work of the Audit Chamber as well. It means that we failed to create those control institutes, both public and state, which would limit theft.”
“Everything must contribute to the fight against corruption: freedom of speech, political competition, and actual, real accountability of the authorities to their voters,” Kudrin said.
